Default Errm is this thing a turtle?

Anyone care to fill me in?
Almost looks like some kind of Turtle-Crab hybrid.

I think that it is in fact a giant Crab, though my only reasoning for calling it a crab is due to the generic shape and that in Cavalon the Crab Clan captain is right next to one. And that the Turtle Clan is never seen with one of these around.

Only problem is that crabs do not have noses, and dont really have turtle like mouths...Whatever is it it looks helluva old, I think it have have turtle arms but they are stuck in the jade. Maybe it just happened to be in the water during the death cursey whatchamacallit. And they just kind of built around it.

The Jade Wind happend 200 years ago, and there are multiple of those. I doubt that it would still be alive and all would be in such a case. The going into the jade thing is more or less clipping issues, I'd assume.

Also, just because crabs in our world look like xyz doesn't mean that crabs in another - fantasy at that - world must look the same. Some of their crabs (since we know that all of them do not) may have noses and mouths like that. Different evolutionary traits.

Maybe it is in fact a kind of hybrid-like creature that cannot be related to rl animals!

I would call it a turtle. It has the face and mouth of a turtle, and it seems far more plausible to me that the flippers would evolve into those little claw like things than a crab evolving into something that looks more like a turtle.

And jeeze, can you imagine what would happen when one of those things dies?

The age alone is not completely implausible, according to the all knowing Google, the oldest living tortoise lived to be anywhere from 175 to about 250 years old, and Sea Turtles supposedly go up to 509 years old. However, I was under the impression that the Jade Wind turned water to jade and organic material to stone, so I find it difficult to believe that the Elder turtles could have survived the wind itself.

1. I could not find more proof on the 509 but I did find one @ 400+ in a Chinese zoo, so age is not an issue
2. Konig probally knows more but I think that the Jade Wind only hit Kurzick land with stone and Luxon land with Jade, seeing as there is normal streams in Echovald and plenty of grass/plants in Jade Sea.

Oh, quite true! I'd never really thought of the distinction before.

In the Echovald Forest, life (animal and plant) were turned to stone *no clue how the Wardens survived* and the Kurzicks repopulated after.

In the Jade Sea, the water was turned to jade and nothing else.

I don't get how the two areas are opposites, to be honest. How did the Jade Wind differenciate? :confuse: One would think it would turn all water into jade and all life into stone...

Going off my water theory, I would suspect that the concentration of water in the Jade Sea absorbed most of the Jade Wind's power, preventing it from turning life on the shores into stone as well. Whereas, in the Echovald, the majority of the water would have been in plantlife and animals, in their cells, in the case of plants, whenever you get right down to it. This being the case, it would have seemed to differentiate between the concentrations of water in each region. Thus, it turned flora and fauna to stone, in the Echovald, and the Jade Sea to jade.

I would say Crab. As Konig as metioned, Elora is standing next to it and the shape of the shell is very different to any turtle shell seen in Cavalon or on siege turtles.

I don't know what it is, I just know I freaked out the first time I saw it move.

I stared just to make sure, and yep, it moved again.

I love the work Anet put into the Luxon cities and outposts, all the hidden animals in the jade, etc.

It seems to be something like a Kappa. It has features that differentiate itself from Lurker, so it could arguably be classified as a domestic monster.
